SAN FRANCISCO, CA, USA, July 13, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ — China Issues Official San Francisco Bay Area Pandas for 2018 !
For the first time in 30 years, the Shanghai mint has minted official pandas in gold and silver for the San Francisco bay area. The last time a panda was minted was in 1987, followed by a 1 ounce gold dragon in 1988.
The newest issue will be the 2018 San Francisco Panda to be distributed at the CoinExpo Santa Clara on September 21st, 2018. Included are gold and silver versions honoring San Francisco's Chinatown and one featuring a large dragon boat.
Mintages will be lower than in 1987 when an estimated actual mintage of 1500 coins was released.
There will only be 480 minted of the silver 30g pandas, and only 80 minted of the gold 30g pandas at the official Shanghai mint.
The dragon boat will be featured on the 12 ounce versions. The mintage will be 275 pieces in 12 ounce silver and only 6 pieces in 12 ounce gold proofs.
The pandas can be purchased at the CoinExpo Santa Clara coin show, but for the many people who can't attend the show in California, they can pre-order online and have them shipped.
