SEATTLE, WA, UNITED STATES, November 14, 2016 / — The boutique video production agency Dare Dreamer Media has begun production on their documentary “Invisible Illness”: stories of people who suffer from ailments in which its symptoms and effects are not outwardly visible, yet they still have a profound impact on the lives of those who live with it. A new set of trailers has just been released highlighting two of the stories.

In October 2011, Tasra Dawson, the film’s Director, a former Designer and Trainer at Apple Inc, was hit by a car while walking in a crosswalk. The impact threw her six feet in the air and led to a cascade of chronic and life-threatening health challenges. “For over a year, I was sent from one doctor to the next, telling them about my inability to walk and the constant pain that kept me bedridden. I was told everything from 'it’s a female problem' to 'it’s all in my head'; and I was given a ridiculous amount of drugs to shut me up.” Tasra reports. “I also had to fight for months to get a second opinion on MRI results. Once I finally did, they found a life-threatening aortic dissection. I’m lucky to be alive.”

The hits kept coming. As a result of steroid patches administered without her knowledge, Tasra developed diabetes as well as SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth, a hard-to-treat condition with IBS-like symptoms), and the accident triggered PTSD. Yet, despite all these ailments, when she is able to leave the home, no one would know she was living with debilitating chronic illnesses.

“People who live with invisible illnesses feel isolated and alone,” Tasra’s husband and the film’s director of photography, Ron commented. “Naturally their loved ones know and help care for them; but when dealing with the general population, there’s a disconnect. As one interviewee in the film shares, it becomes exhausting having to always explain your situation. Sometimes you wish you had visible signs just so people could see and know.”

“This was a film that I desperately needed during the first few years after my accident,” Tasra continues. “To know that I was not alone, that it was okay and even necessary to challenge my doctors and fight for better answers, as well as exploring alternative forms of medicine and healing. We plan to address all of this in the film.”

Principal photography is still underway, but the filmmakers have put out an official trailer and accompanying video story vignette. Ron added, “We have a lot of footage that won’t make the final film, but we’ll use it to provide additional stories and resources online.”

LONDON, LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, November 15, 2016 / — A new awareness campaign designed to equip pharmacy managers with the tools to support their team’s learning and development has been launched with the aim of raising standards and improving the customer experience in pharmacy.
Pharmacy managers are being encouraged to sign the online Pharmacy Pledge ( and unlock free tools and training along the way, in preparation for Training Awareness Week 2017 (March 6-10).
Pharmacy Pledge is the brainwave of Sunil Kochhar, founder of, who has teamed up with learning and technology company Mediapharm to launch the initiative. As part of his other roles as Kent LPC Vice Chair, PSNC local representative, and an independent contractor, Sunil recognised the role of support staff training and development in raising standards and garnering the trust of the public but was aware that many community pharmacy managers lacked the tools and resources to help them do that.
‘‘As an owner of an independent community pharmacy, you are juggling a lot of roles while trying to keep the business profitable. You don’t have the luxury of a learning and development (L&D) department so training becomes ad hoc and a distraction, but without it you sacrifice the customer experience and revenue,’’ explains Sunil.
The campaign has also involved the key pharmacy training providers and OTC companies with the aim of creating a dedicated network that will help pharmacists succeed in their pledge. Mediapharm co-founder Paul Lowndes explained: ‘‘We know a lot of valuable resources are already out there but the pharmacists we speak to don’t know where to start. Our aim with the campaign is to turn training into profit by getting the right content to the right person at the right time.’’
The Pledge to Principle 6 – a reference to the GPhC’s 5 principles – will revolve around five call to actions designed to give managers a structured framework to support staff L&D. Tools will be offered to support these actions and bring training in line with business objectives. Tools will include time management sheets, training matrix templates and category breakdown toolkits.

Gaps & Abnormalities
These are gaps in a hard wood floor that remain with seasonal change. If some boards appear glued together by the finish then there may be a defect in side-bonding. This can also be caused by Edge Crush or Compression Set from prior exposure to extreme moisture. Other causes can be from hot spots in the sub-floor such as poorly insulated heating ducts, hot water plumbing lines, radiant heating systems, register openings and appliance motors. “Debris between the wood floor boards, improper nailing or even nail position can also cause gaps in the floor boards,” says Allman. Other causes can be cracked tongues. Flooring installed with an excessive high moisture content or over a sub-floor with excessive high moisture as well as flooring that has not been installed tightly enough to begin with can all contribute to resulting gaps between boards. Foundation settlements can also contribute to the creation of gaps or improper sub-floor materials that will not hold nails are also causes for this type of issue. For floors that have been glued down, early foot traffic, incorrect adhesive transferred or used, the wrong amount of flash time for the adhesive or not using a roller when recommended all cause gaps.

The cure for this problem is to remove the cause and then restore normal humidity levels. After the floor has stabilized, use filler in gaps that are small enough to be filled and then re-coat the floor. For large gaps use a sliver (Dutchman) or wider board to eliminate the gap.

Greenhouse Effect
This is when hard wood floors shrink and swell due to limited air movement and inconsistent humidity levels. The cause of this is that the space is closed up with no air control or air exchange. Sunlight through windows can generate heat, creating condensation and abnormal humidity levels. Noticeable shrinkage or expansion will occur when an attempt is made to stabilize the atmosphere. The cure for this is that after the environment becomes stable, you can follow the cures that also fix cupping floors, buckling or gaps. Controlling the atmosphere during and after the installation is critical to avoid issues caused by the greenhouse effect.
